Show HN: Miko – an alternative to googling healthcare queries (mikopharm.bubbleapps.io)
14 points by Michealkill 1022 days ago
This is a personal experiment that uses AI to respond to healthcare queries. I was fed up of googling symptoms which provided no concrete advice. The only alternative was to fork out for a doctor's appointment that would last a few minutes.

So I built a little tool that will hopefully augment people's interactions with their health. I have no interest in replacing the hospital or the need for a doctor.

Miko is not flawless but it is a free, instant alternative to expensive healthcare. My hope is that users would try the advice Miko gives them but also visit their doctor if their symptoms persisted.

Previously I built a one-stop shop for healthcare which sold services at discounted prices but it is just an interesting side project. I have investigated ways of incorporating GPT and other models into healthcare since last year. I used bubble.io for the web app because of its convenience.

Being asked to sign up immediately with no other details on the actual app/site to describe what it's for is going to be an immediate "no, thanks". I even tried going to the main page (https://mikopharm.bubbleapps.io/) and there is nothing there either. I'm not familiar with bubble.io either so also not sure what I'd be signing up for as far as the underlying platform is concerned.

Hey, sorry this is my first time posting. You can read more about the healthcare platform I am building here - https://www.mikohealthcare.com

The link is a direct link to a feature in the app that I built separately so that people who don't want to download the beta, can still access a service they may find useful.

So this post was more of a feature than an overall product. However, I see how the link is not clear, and I understand the frustration. Thanks for the comment! It would be great if you could try the web app and I am happy to answer any more queries you have!

let me try it before I sign up, and I think you really need to lean on the fact that you can be a source of trust, since that is what can differentiate you from something like bard or chatgpt.

Look, us developers can get a lot shit done, but we can't replace doctors. You are going to need some real help with this from actual experts if you want to take it further than simple side project idea. It could be something great though, I have other thoughts as this is a really fascinating idea.

Create account before seeing it? Pfft.
Why not just use chatGPT directly?
Hey, thanks for your comment, the aim is that this will be a feature sitting in an app that connects to patients doctors, pharmacies and other healthcare professionals. Therefore, I needed to use their API as opposed to the product directly. I hope this answers your query. Did you get around to trying Miko?
I understand you need the API. I mean why would the user or your customer not just use chatGPT instead of your product? Search engines themselves incorporate GenAI for such queries now.
My hope is that the app will become users central hub or healthcare control centre and as a result while using the app to resolve other healthcare issues, will interact with the API

"I hope that people try it but also you shouldn't try it"

This is not a show HN. First time posting, sure. Your first time posting in a community shouldn’t be a request of that community. And if it is, it should follow the guidelines that community has set.
I contacted the moderators and they were happy with the post, sorry if I stepped on any toes, was not my intention
I worked on something like this. Trust is key, trust in both your company and your sources. I don’t yet see where you are demonstrating why you should be trusted on either. Best of luck.
Does it need to comply with HIPAA?
