Show HN: TripClub – Plan Travel with AI (tripclub.ai)
7 points by rileydcampbell 1046 days ago
Hey HN! This is Will and Riley from TripClub (https://tripclub.ai/). TripClub helps you plan and visualize your trips while giving you recommended itineraries to anywhere in the world based on your input.

We began working on this when we couldn’t find a good solution to plan trips with friends, and found that most people we knew used something like google docs along with 24 tabs for researching places. Also, with the recent progress in generative AI, we found that we could now create detailed trips based on any input you’d like, and turn these into visually appealing itineraries.

As you may have suspected, we primarily use openAI models for trip generation on the backend. We put the recommendations into an interactable map and itinerary. After creating a trip, you can add your friends so everyone can collaborate on editing the various places on your itinerary.

Right now every aspect of the app is free and we hope to keep it that way. However we haven’t built in a source of revenue at the moment and are fully bootstrapped, so this could change (we plan to make revenue on hotel bookings in the future).

We’re looking forward to hearing any of your comments, questions, and feedback!

When I asked it for a bicycle tour starting in Tarvisio Italy it suggested to go to a waterfall in Slovenia at 2am and then to travel 500 km to a small village situated between Turin and Milan so you can have coffee, also at 2 am of the same day. After that, travel back to Tarvisio to play golf at 4 am.

Appreciate you sending your trip for reference. We've seen some funkiness like this happen at times which we're looking into at the moment. This is a particularly weird one.

I'm jealous of your plans for a bicycle tour near Tarvisio, sounds like it'll be an epic trip!

I entered Bachelor party for Cancun and it had night club followed by a 5am cenote swim the next morning. Might want to factor in hangovers.
Maybe the assumption is that you never stopped drinking?
But in all seriousness we definitely need to work on the suggested times
A few demo trial without sign up would be much appreciated. Didn’t get the chance to see the results.
Appreciate the feedback, I do agree we're going to change that. For now if you want to try it and see the results there's nothing beyond creating an account with your email (no payment etc)
Pushed up a change so you can now play around with the app without signing up
Thanks! So I tried again. Here’s what I noticed 1. Date time is not local to the country I’d like to travel 2. Lack information about transport, routes, weather season, hotels, foods or restaurants, price… why not start with a country or region and be very good at it? Trip planning should be predictable 3. I want to see the places on map. Maybe? 4. Responsive but not fully on mobile

Overall this a hard problem you are trying to solve. I don’t even know where to start if I were you. Good luck!

This is great feedback! Much appreciated! 1. Yep, shipping a fix ASAP. 2. That’s a good point. We’ve been trying to balance getting this out to users to get feedback and adding everything in we’d like, have some work in progress on some of these and hope to get out some good updates soon. 3. We show them on desktop but I think not showing the places on the map is a mobile responsiveness bug. Please correct me if I’m wrong! 4. Yep! We are working to have better mobile support soon!

Thanks again!
