This seems to be a fairly complete model of the camera imaging process, with a nice resulting output. Modeling polygonal apertures and other effects could be done in the future.

I can see why these images take so long to render.

Every time I think "We'll never need more compute, things are fast enough"... some new cool thing comes along, like this.
