Very interesting. The options it proposed were Keycloak, Dex, and Ory. Has anyone used any of these tools for custom OIDC and can speak to how difficult or easy it was to setup and maintain?
If you are just looking to run a custom OAuth/OIDC server, Ory Hydra is ridiculously easy to set up.
Keycloak comes with the full IAM stack, so if you need that good; if you just need the OAuth server, its a bit much in my opinion.
Have not tried Dex so can't speak to that.
i thought the tone was 100% dead on for the content. it introduced a new idea from a technical level, and and showed a very cringe and very awful, but very informative very clear very useful implementation.
i feel like most similar posts from most folk would have shown off some screenshots of some dumb app that does the job, but would never have made clear what was really afoot here. this post dared to wade in. it unabashedly just kept going. it showed what really goes down, step by step by step. it had a good attitude about it. i adore this post.
maybe you're allergic to cats? cat-nip.dev got you down?
