I dont know if its just me, but those typos throw me off. Seems like it was created in a rush/hurry or something. Also "with https and everything". What exactly is everything? If you are gonna spend money on some service you want to be informed well enough about it to trust it.
The text is a tad rushed and we were aiming to get something out there and working and fix up the visuals as we progress. There are a few changes to the copy that I'll make though to clarify what we are doing. Thank you for pointing this out!!
Good to hear that. Did you create this out of a personal need or why? I am really interested to hear more about this, as it seems interesting as a concept.
Really, bloc.host is a product out of a side project/company I founded over 5 years ago - Plover Digital LLC (plover.digital). The story of how we got here from there is a little long, I'll try to keep it to just bloc.host.
Recently, in a bid to provide better service and bring in more customers, we upgraded our data center systems to a 10gig connection. Since we are no where close to saturating our bandwidth, we wanted to come up with new ways to use it. One of the suggestions my business partner made eventually led us to bloc.host. We both were looking for a way to easily host our company/personal sites and projects that was within our own infrastructure and control. So, in some sense for personal need, but also for the challenge, the experience, and the maximization of our resources.
There is plenty more in the pipeline for bloc.host as we continue to improve performance and introduce new features.
No, we decided a while ago to try to keep our sites simple. Less of a headache. We are going to bring the style of the site more in-line to our existing style on plover.digital, but it will still be rather bare.
