This is the type of analysis that concludes that the average person is a hermaphrodite, because the "average" is 50% male and 50% female. Mixes random associations without connecting them.

It did not lessen the work, it lessened the effort to perform certain tasks. Your free time is nibbled away from 5pm to 9am by your employer, plus if you are a parent by the extra hands-on-ness current schooling requires. Everyone has an Android or iOS crackberry now.

I also thought the 4-day workweeks went with longer workdays, at least some experiments did, in which case hours worked are about the same.

Just propaganda for the 60-hour work week to keep us all happy.
