Some young people are dropping out. My son doesn't own a phone and doesn't participate in social media. He plays online games a bit but doesn't like a lot of what he sees. (Particularly people who try to take advantage of Western Hikikomori which he thinks is a problem in Team Fortress 2)
He just went to go to an event where he expects to meet girls which is in the most dangerous part of our county to drive in. (It's a running gag for us that many of the roads you see on maps in upstate NY aren't really passable.) I charged up my Tracfone (not charged because I almost never use it) to hand to him in case he got in trouble and he firmly rejected it.
