Last I checked, Anbox is completely abandoned by the maintainer and is getting no updates. Waydroid is the new Anbox. No point even considering Anbox over Waydroid

I read that as well, but on Anbox GitHub (https://github.com/anbox/anbox/commits/master) there are some recent cosmetic changes, so maybe it is "just" sleeping, not completely abandoned :)
