I like the idea of collaborating (through a platform); at the interface of techniques and ideas, life can be very stimulating. Especially so with interdisciplinary work extending past classical research boundaries.
I signed up. Looking forward to trying out the platform.
Like the idea, I hope it takes off, but two suggestions:
(1) the name ("getcited") comes across as a little superficial and maybe more importantly doesn't clearly directly reflect what it is. It sounds like a publication dissemination service, which I don't think it is?
(2) I wouldn't limit it to academic email addresses (unless you just mean "email addresses that people use for research"?). First, there are lots of legit researchers who don't have university affiliations. Second, there are lots of researchers at universities who prefer non-university email addresses for lots of reasons.
Sorry for the late response. Just saw your comment.
First of all, I really appreciate it that you took the time to give me such valuable advice.
Regarding (1) I'm trying to come up with a more sophisticated name that is still catchy and has some kind of relationship with what the platform actually is about. All the ones I thought of were already taken by some kind of other business or organization unfortunately. Do you have any suggestions? :D
As for the email addresses, I just changed the input field to say "Enter your email..." . It already led to a signup by someone with a regular "gmail". Great advice!!!
I would love to ask you for further advice down the road of the platform's progress. Would that be something you be willing to do?
