Disney is developing planned communities for fans (theverge.com)

I can't imagine this "working."

As a Disney fan-- someone who went to the parks weekly for a decade -- they've managed to do the unthinkable, ruin their brand through raising prices while cutting the quality of the experience and pissing on their fans.

Disney isn't a premium experience anymore but it's still a premium-priced. There might be a market for a Disney city, I don't know-- there's more money than common sense as the saying goes-- but Disney is failing on every level. They've ruined their entertainment business, ruined Marvel, ruined Star Wars, ruined their resorts, and every venture they step into is failing-- look no further than the Star Cruiser resort which is incredibly lame.

Yes it reminded me of this concept aswell. I think they're looking to build a 2.0 version of EPCOT that's more linked to the disney theme park. Rather than just a "basic" community. I'm wondering if this kind of themed communities could take off or even some more extrems concepts such as a Starwars community could exist in the future. We'll see !
