I wish we had that sort of documentation.
The problem I see as a mid-career dev is really that expectations are too high. You can hire me, but if you don't have documentation, or you have overbearing corporate processes, then don't expect me to be fast. I do agree that this could play into not delivering as much perceived value or be lacking context.
