I was in Hong Kong on and off from 2016 up until this year. I think people may not know the country is guaranteed to become China by 2034, and probably a bit sooner now that they contribute such a small % of the GDP to China.

Since the people of Hong Kong are overwhelmingly against the mainland government, I think the situation will continue to escalate and become hostile to foreigners.
