It trains you by practice exercises, so you learn faster. You can use both for learning

Why not just train on your codebase/IDE? The best practice you can get is by actually using vim when developing. I do not see a need to go "practice" on a website.

there are 32 lessons at the moment, they teach the basics of vim and some more advanced tricks

Where can i see what they are? I use vi bindings whereever i can and have a friend who would like to learn it. The site looks good, but i can't recommend it to him without knowing what he will get for his money.
