That logo is awfully close to discords. Not only that there are multiple mentions of discord throughout the interface. It looks like this is a fork of some original discord code.
Yeah, they even use the new Discord logo throughout the entire application, in fact this whole thing looks like a really weird scam or phishing site. I have no question about the tech, or how good it is, but aligning itself so close is suicide and worrisome.
I didn't look too closely at it, but apparently it is just a discord _client_. I'm not sure what the point of having a 3rd party client that is essentially a clone is if you're still using the official servers anyway?
From briefly looking at their site I'm pretty sure it is both a client for official Discord servers and they also have Discord API-compatible backend it can connect to as well. Which is actually pretty smart
Maybe that’s the strategy: receive an infringement claim and parade it around in the press as evidence that the entrenched player is bullying the new FOSS player.

Bit of advice: it is true that there is no such thing as bad press, but there’s also no such thing as a good lawsuit…

That logo is a trademark infringement suit waiting to happen.
Whenever I see projects like this I’m always reminded of the first clip of this video of Jonathan Blow talking about open source software. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XLVjSeusPYg
Some of the (main?) contributors to the project aren't exactly nice sounding individuals either..

(e.g. https://github.com/fosscord/fosscord/issues/56 https://github.com/fosscord/fosscord-client/issues/22)

All I see is a bunch of entitled people butting in and demanding accommodations.

They were rightly told to "fuck off".

Those commenters were incredibly rude and entitled. I would not have been as patient as the maintainers.
