Looks like they mixed up correlation and causation
Correlation is soft evidence for causation if one signal leads the other. Correlation is one of the only ways we have as humans to understand phenomena through observation.

From where I'm standing the article makes a cogent thesis as to why price is driven by the online activity rather than vice versa. After all, you wouldn't expect the success of a business to be predicated on its listing price - the tail wagging the dog so to speak.

Barclays has a history of writing short pieces on Tesla:

* "Barclays slashed its price target on Tesla to $150 from $192"

* "Barclays Calls It a 'Niche Carmaker'"

* "Morgan Stanley lifts target price on Tesla to $810, while Barclays reiterates $230 view"

* "While we still believe TSLA is fundamentally overvalued, we see nothing to prevent the shares moving higher in the coming weeks"

Please.
