OP here, I like to collect interesting and useful websites to visit later. Browser bookmarks are cool but they quickly get disorganized and I forgot the folder where I have bookmarked the website.
So, I built Bunklist to collect my favourite websites into simple lists for my personal use and also to share it with my friends and team. If you are looking for something to organize your bookmarks, give Bunklist a try and let me know your thoughts about it.
You can set your list to be public or private, Public lists are discovered by other users, they can add comments, like, bookmark, or save websites into their list using the “Bunk it” button .
I have also made a “Shuffle”, an alternative to StumbleUpon to discover one random website from public lists.
Bunklist is completely free to use & I am looking for your feedback and suggestions to improve our product.
I don't think it's a big deal. But bunker list would avoid this particular misinterpretation
btw, I like the idea. Or I think I do, because I'm not signing up before I get a chance to test it. This is a very common - and very legitimate - complaint on Show HN posts. You need to give people a chance to work with it - play around a little - before they sign up
Are you familiar with web directories (DMOZ [1] and others [2])? This looks like one, and perhaps others can be used to borrow ideas (hierarchical structure, for instrance) for future development.
Thanks for the links. I was not familiar with these and yes hierarchical structure could be useful. We're planning to add public categories into the list, maybe we can use the categories structure from DMOZ. The categories are neatly organized there.
It didn't get the tagging right at all. On my bookmarks I somehow ended up with hundreds of tags in total, making tags effectively useless. I made very rough tool to just bulk delete delicious tags. Tags were useful but a pain to manage
There should be some fuzziness probably. My tags were in hundreds because I imported bookmarks. Many tags were essentially same with an 's' I remember.
I have never used Del.icio.us. I've tried to access it through web-archive but most of the snapshot are redirecting to 301 response error. How does the tagging work in del.icio.us ?
Great, I have always wanted something like this. The part I wanted to capture was the process of easily sharing links with specific people or groups of people. I find I have a set of friends to whom I often want to share some web link and always wished I could structure this better, have history, comments etc. It's a really common type of communication I have with friends; at least for me
Love the product. I was looking for something similar where I can organize my bookmarks into lists. Currently I use pocket and use their tagging feature
Unlike del.icio.us, here you'll have to save website in a list and the lists are tagged instead of website. Kind of your collection of favorite websites.
Users can discover public lists, add comment, or like a list to show appreciation.
If you are looking to just browse websites like del.icio.us, we have made a page "Trending Websites" where we fetch recently posted websites from the public lists.
