The future is a diverse API toolbox (HTTP, Websockets, GraphQL, SOAP, HTTP/2 & HTTP/3) with a variety of patterns (request / response, pub/sub, hypermedia, gRPC). OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, and JSON Schema will dominate the landscape.
