As a Data Engineer, it should be noted that not everything you do is SQL and although it is noble to be a "master" of it, it doesn't make you a good data engineer at all.
It's best to be good at transforming data in multiple languages (SQL, JS, Python, R) and multiple environments, so using cloud providers to setup cloud transformation jobs and using vms to setup data extractions are very valuable (and often forgotten) skills.
If your job title is something like "SQL Data Engineer", then disregard this advice, big companies sometimes hire SQL and/or BI specialists and calls them "Data Engineer" but only gives them SQL tasks.
