I put in an Irish phone number (+353) and got an sms, not an iMessage. Would also like to see a hobbyist/free service for smaller projects or just internal stuff... Maybe limited to 1 or 2 numbers for internal use...

The site claims end-to-end encryption, but the API doesn't reflect that.
